The highly anticipated Kia EV2, a small electric vehicle (EV) designed to rival models like Hyundai’s Casper Electric, has surfaced in an expected image and is quickly generating buzz. Created by New York Mammoth, a firm specializing in visualizing upcoming cars, the rendering is based on spy shots of a test vehicle recently spotted on the road.

The EV2 embodies Kia’s latest design philosophy, combining practicality with innovative exterior styling, and is set to make waves in the compact EV market.

The EV2 showcases Kia’s contemporary design language while incorporating bold new elements. One of the standout features is its Starmap signature daytime running lights and two-split headlamp configuration, which depart from traditional SUV trends. The front end embraces a fresh and sophisticated look with a digital Tiger Face grille, chrome-accented hood, and stylish lower bumper, complete with a skid plate that hints at off-road capabilities.

Dynamic Side and Rear Design with a Nod to the Soul

The EV2’s side profile exudes strength despite its compact size, angular shape, and dynamic character lines. The emphasized wheel arches and auto-flush door handles are designed with aerodynamics in mind, while the Y-shaped character line adds volume. The rear design evokes the iconic look of the Kia Soul, with a rising belt line flowing into the tailgate, past the C-pillar, and contributing to the vehicle’s dynamic posture.

The GT line offers wheel options from 16 inches to 18 inches, further enhancing its stylish presence.

Impressive Specifications and Competitive Pricing

Built on Kia’s E-GMP platform, the EV2 measures approximately 13.1 feet long and has an 8.2-foot wheelbase, making it ideally suited for urban environments. It is expected to be powered by a 62 kWh battery and offers a range of 248 to 311 miles on a single charge (WLTP), positioning it as a leader in its class for the driving range.

In Europe, the EV2 is anticipated to cost around €25,000 (approximately $26,500); in Korea, the starting price could be around 20 million won (about $15,000). Thus, it is a competitive option in the affordable EV market.

The EV2 is set for its European debut in January next year, where it will compete with other compact EVs such as the Hyundai Casper Electric, Mini Electric, and Peugeot e-208. While there are no confirmed plans for a domestic release in South Korea, experts predict that the EV2 could potentially replace the Soul EV in the market, offering a more affordable and compact option for EV buyers.
