Tasman Pickup: Kia’s New Venture into the Pickup Market with Bold Off-Road Options

Kia is set to launch its highly anticipated pickup truck, the Kia Tasman, and will begin accepting contracts in South Korea on Thursday. In particular, the X-Pro model features a minimum ground clearance of 252 mm (9.9 inches), 28 mm (1.1 inches) higher than the base 4WD model, and is equipped with all-terrain tires to enhance off-road driving performance. In addition, off-road-specific specifications such as an electronic differential lock, lock mode, and ground view monitor have been added.

The Tasman stands out with its bold exterior, featuring the iconic tiger face, star map signature lighting on the front, and a solid body design that emphasizes strength. Practical elements like a corner step and side storage add to its utility. The truck bed has a 1,173ℓ loading capacity, with dimensions of 1,512 mm (59.5 inches) in length, 1,572 mm (61.9 inches) in width, and 540 mm (21.3 inches) in height, allowing a maximum load of 700 kg (1,543 lbs). Kia also offers genuine accessories like sports bars, bed covers, and sliding beds for enhanced utility.

Inside, the Tasman is equipped with modern comforts and high-end tech, such as a panoramic wide display with ccNC, a Harman/Kardon premium audio system, and dual wireless charging. The rear seat features a sliding-linked reclining seat, and a 29ℓ tray is revealed when the seat is lifted, offering extra storage space. The doors feature a wide-opening hinge that opens up to 80 degrees for added convenience.

Launch and Customer Incentives

Kia offers various customer benefits for those who purchase the Tasman by June 2025. These include a grace period installment program in which only interest is paid for the first year, with principal and interest repaid over the following two years. Customers who sign a contract by March will also receive a contract deposit coupon worth 100,000 won. The Kia Shop, set to be renewed by the end of February, will allow customers to purchase genuine customized products and install them via the AutoQ network.

Kia also plans to feature the Tasman at the Seoul Mobility Show in April 2025, where it will showcase customized products and offer an experience program that combines off-road driving and camping.
