Chevrolet’s Trax Crossover and the rugged Trailblazer SUV have again proven their global appeal, securing the top and fourth spots in South Korea’s passenger vehicle exports last year. This marks the second consecutive year that Chevrolet has placed two models in the top five, further solidifying its presence in international markets.
The Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association (KAMA) released its “December 2024 Automotive Industry Trends (Final)” report, revealing that the Chevrolet Trax Crossover, including its variants, maintained its top position for the second year in a row. In the past year, the model exported 295,099 units to overseas markets.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer and its variants secured the fourth spot, with 178,066 units sold abroad last year.
The Trax Crossover’s performance was especially impressive in December. It achieved its highest monthly overseas sales since its full-scale shipments began in March 2023. The model saw a robust 11% year-over-year increase, with 33,587 units sold in the year’s final month.
This strong performance contributed significantly to General Motors Korea reaching its highest overseas sales figures since 2014. The Chevrolet Trax Crossover has now surpassed a cumulative 510,000 units in overseas sales since its launch.
Since its 2019 debut, the Chevrolet Trailblazer has also demonstrated impressive global demand, with approximately 830,000 units in cumulative overseas sales by the end of last year.
General Motors Korea plans to strengthen its position in South Korea by increasing its production capacity to nearly 500,000 units annually. The company intends to focus on strategic models experiencing rising global market demand.
