BMW unveiled the newly updated iX on January 28, showcasing significant design, performance, and efficiency improvements. The updated electric SUV promises to elevate BMW’s competitive edge in the growing luxury electric vehicle (EV) market.

The iX xDrive60 model now offers an impressive range of up to 547 km (340 miles) on a single charge (EPA standard), making it an appealing choice for long-distance travelers. Additionally, the new entry-level xDrive45 trim broadens the model’s appeal, providing more options for consumers.

Refined Design and Upgraded Comfort

The iX’s design has been refreshed with new headlamps and updated daytime running lights, while the kidney grille’s inner pattern has been revised for a more distinctive look. Inside, the iX has taken luxury to the next level, adding an M multi-function seat with backrest width adjustment, lumbar support, and active seat ventilation to improve comfort. A heat pump system has also been integrated to enhance heating efficiency, offering energy-saving benefits.

High-Performance Variants to Compete in the Electric SUV Market

The new iX will be launched in three models: the iX xDrive45 offers 408 horsepower and 502 km (312 miles) of driving range, and the iX xDrive60 offers 543 horsepower and 547 km (340 miles) of driving range.

In particular, the top model, the iX M70 xDrive, has a powerful performance of 659 horsepower and a driving range of 486 km (302 miles) (EPA standard).

With rising competition in the electric SUV market, particularly from models like the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Genesis GV90, BMW is doubling down on the iX’s performance and range to boost its competitiveness.

BMW will begin producing the new iX at its German facility. It is expected to be fully available in the US and European markets in the second quarter of this year.

As the EV market grows rapidly, all eyes will be on how consumers respond to BMW’s latest iX, especially as it goes head-to-head with other premium electric SUVs.

BMW Aims for Electric SUV Dominance

The new BMW iX will be released in three models: the iX xDrive45 (408 horsepower, 502 km (312 miles) ), iX xDrive60 (543 horsepower, 547 km (340 miles)), and iX M70 xDrive (659 horsepower, 486 km (302 miles)). These models feature powerful performance and a long driving range.

Due to its powerful output, the top model, the iX M70 xDrive, is expected to increase its competitiveness in the electric SUV market.

Production of the iX will begin in Germany in March of this year, and it will be fully launched in the US and European markets starting in the second quarter of this year. Since the existing iX is also sold in South Korea, the new model may be introduced there, but the official schedule has not yet been announced.

There is fierce competition in the EV market with the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Genesis GV90, so attention is paid to how the new iX will be received.
