Kia’s two SUV models have earned top recognition in the United States, where they are celebrated for their excellence as family vehicles. The Telluride, Kia’s flagship SUV in North America, has been crowned the best family car for six years, while the all-electric EV9 has claimed its inaugural title as the top family electric vehicle (EV).

On Friday, Kia America announced that the Telluride was named ” 3-Row Midsize SUV for Families in U.S. News & World Report‘s 2025 Best Cars for Families Awards. The Telluride earned top marks for its ideal combination of space, comfort, practicality, and safety features, securing six consecutive years of high ratings.

The EV9 was honored as the “Best Electric Vehicle for Families,” with judges praising its superior energy efficiency and fast-charging capabilities. The vehicle also garnered praise for its distinct identity as a Kia electric model, setting it apart in the growing EV market.

Both Kia models faced stiff competition from Hyundai in the final rounds. The Telluride edged out the Hyundai Palisade, while the EV9 beat the Hyundai Ioniq 5, claiming victory in their respective categories.

U.S. News & World Report divided this year’s family car awards into nine categories. More than 100 SUVs and minivans from the 2025 model year were evaluated. Vehicles were scored based on expert reviews, safety features, reliability, cargo space, and family-friendly functions. Other winners included the Hyundai Tucson (Best Compact SUV), Mazda CX-70 (Best 2-row Midsize SUV), Toyota Highlander Hybrid (Best Hybrid SUV), Jeep Wagoneer (best large SUV), and Chrysler Pacifica (Best Minivan).

These accolades are set to bolster Kia’s SUV sales in the U.S., potentially leading to stronger performance as local sales grow. The EV9, in particular, has generated significant buzz, having been named “Best Electric Vehicle” by the automotive website Cars.com, further heightening expectations for the model’s future success.
