The Hyundai Palisade has been named “February Car of the Month” and awarded by the Korean Automobile Journalists Association (KAJA). Its success was driven by the premium value exclusive to SUVs, from its commanding exterior to its interior meticulously crafted for passenger comfort.

KAJA announced on Friday that the nominees for last month’s new vehicle releases included the BMW New M5, BYD Atto 3, Audi New A3, Genesis GV70 Electrified Facelift, and Hyundai’s all-new Palisade. The evaluation criteria included exterior and interior design, perceived quality, safety features, convenience technologies, performance metrics, energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, marketability, and purchase intention.

After fierce competition, the Palisade secured first place with 34.7 out of 50 points. It excelled in safety and convenience features, earning 7.7 points (out of 10) while garnering 7.3 points for design and quality and 7.0 points for performance.

Jeong Chi Yeon, chair of the Car of the Year Selection Committee, explained the decision: “The new Palisade, a complete redesign after six years, features a bold and imposing exterior that emphasizes its unique character. Its over 5-meter length is utilized effectively to create a spacious interior that prioritizes passenger comfort.”

Meanwhile, the Palisade sets a new benchmark in its class for interior space across all three rows, ensuring a comfortable travel experience. Compared to its predecessor, the new model’s length and height have increased by 65mm and 15mm, respectively, providing more headroom and legroom. The second-row seats feature a forward-tilting walk-in function, while the third row offers sliding capability, enhancing ease of entry and exit while maximizing flexible space utilization.

A preview electronic control suspension has been applied for the first time in a Hyundai SUV. It also features improved sound insulation for the front and second-row door glass, delivering an optimal driving experience. The expanded rear quarter glass area enhances the sense of openness for third-row passengers.

On the first day of pre-orders last month, 33,000 units were ordered, proving the Palisade’s popularity in the domestic large SUV market.
