Audi is accelerating the development of the full-redesign SQ7, the high-performance model of its mid-size SUV, the Q7. Recent spy shots of the test vehicle have revealed key changes to the full redesign model. The latest images show a new split daytime running light (DRL) signature and a significantly revised front-end design, highlighting Audi’s ambition in the luxury large SUV market.

The SQ7 full redesign features significant upgrades across the platform, design, and technology. The exterior changes are particularly noticeable, signaling that Audi prepares to compete directly with models like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5 in the premium large SUV segment.

Wider, More Imposing Grille

Aggressive Air Intake Design

The most noticeable change at the front of the new SQ7 is the split daytime running lights (DRL). The upper DRL, meeting the bonnet, stretches wide on both sides, creating a more three-dimensional and sophisticated look beyond a simple light strip. This design enhances the front-end presence significantly.

The mesh grille has also undergone substantial changes. The new design features wider spacing, amplifying the sporty SUV aesthetic. The lower air intakes on both sides have been enlarged, adding an aggressive touch, while the overall proportions and balance have been refined for a more elegant appearance.

The lower bumper incorporates design elements that emphasize masculinity. The air intake shape resembles a muscle car, showcasing a bold design choice. This change reflects Audi’s effort to balance its signature understated elegance with a fresh and striking new image.

Rear Light Strip Redesign

Bumper Enhancements

The rear changes go beyond simple taillight modifications. A long light strip spans the taillights and tailgates, enhancing overall cohesion. The positioning of the reflectors and the bumper design have also been improved, giving the impression of a larger and more stable vehicle.

The new SQ7 has also made significant strides at the platform level. It features an extensively upgraded version of the latest MLB Evo platform, with the likely addition of a hybrid powertrain. The SQ7 is expected to share technical underpinnings with the latest Porsche Cayenne, promising high performance and efficiency.

Audi plans to unveil the redesigned SQ7 in early 2026. With development vehicles currently undergoing rigorous testing, a teaser reveal in the second half of this year remains possible. More detailed information about the powertrain configuration and specific specifications is expected to be shared in the future.
