NASCAR, the premier motorsport series in the United States, is known for its high-speed races on massive oval tracks, attracting motorsport fans’ attention worldwide.

NASCAR is evolving, making strategic choices to shape its future. The organization is actively pursuing sustainability by developing more environmentally friendly racing categories.

As part of this transition, Ford, a longtime NASCAR participant and a leading American automaker, has unveiled a fully electric NASCAR race car prototype based on the Mustang Mach-E.

The newly introduced Mustang Mach-E prototype departs from NASCAR’s traditional coupe and sedan body styles, adopting a crossover design. It integrates NASCAR’s signature styling while embracing this new form.

The prototype features lightweight carbon fiber panels and incorporates NASCAR-spec suspension components, brake systems, and wheels, maintaining the technical essence of conventional NASCAR race cars.

Unlike its predecessors, which were powered by V8 engines, this all-electric race car has three electric motors. These motors deliver over 1,500 horsepower and ensure high-performance capabilities on the track.

A 78.0 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is centrally placed within the chassis to optimize the vehicle’s center of gravity and balance power output with weight distribution. Additional design refinements further enhance its overall performance.

Before NASCAR officially launches its all-electric racing category, this next-generation race car, reflecting the Mustang Mach-E’s styling, will make its competitive debut at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
