Toyota’s popular RAV4, a cornerstone of the compact SUV segment since its debut in 1994, is set to be redesigned. After five generations and a facelift for the current fifth-generation model, the all-new RAV4 will be revealed in 2025. Recently, spy shots of the redesigned RAV4 have surfaced, both in Japan and the U.S., generating a lot of excitement. Various renderings based on these images have been circulating, giving us a glimpse into the upcoming vehicle’s design.

New Design: Angular and Futuristic

The redesigned RAV4 will feature a bold, angular design, departing from the softer lines of the current model. One of the most striking elements of the new design is a C-shaped hammerhead front end, influenced by the Prius’s styling but with a more solid, angular twist. Now sporting a trapezoidal pattern, the grille will have straighter lines to give it a more refined appearance. The square trim, likely housing fog lights, and the addition of two lines of garnish are expected to give the front end a sharper, more cohesive look. Compared to the leaked images, the bumper has been revised, narrowing the area around the horizontal air intake for a more streamlined appearance.

Side Profile: Sharp and Clean Lines

The side of the redesigned RAV4 will continue with clean, linear elements. The roofline, door pillars, and fender cladding will feature black high-gloss accents. Glossy touches on the thin spoke wheels and tires will further enhance the sleek look. One notable design feature will be the wide side skirts, extending at a right angle to the body with sharp lines that emphasize the RAV4’s rugged yet refined profile.

Plastic cladding under the bumper and a three-part air intake will provide a tough, off-road-ready appearance, while the bonnet will have a higher, more straightforward parting line, adding to the vehicle’s bold stance. The overall side design remains largely consistent with the leaked images, though the roof line has been thickened, the window belt line adopts a step-shape for added visual interest.

Rear Design: Aggressive and Angular

The rear of the redesigned RAV4 is expected to follow the same hammerhead style introduced at the front. The angled and retracted tail lamps will have sharper edges for a more aggressive look. Overall, the new RAV4 will feature a larger body size with even more angular lines than the current model, further enhancing its bold, sporty presence.

Interior Updates: Modern Layout and Advanced Technology

The redesigned RAV4 will feature a new layout, a large infotainment display, and a more traditional physical button arrangement. This updated interior is expected to improve usability while maintaining the modern, high-tech feel for which the RAV4 is known.

As Toyota continues to evolve the RAV4, the redesigned model is set to offer an even more dynamic design, better performance, and enhanced technology. The release of the 2025 RAV4 is highly anticipated, with the new model likely to compete even more aggressively in the compact SUV market against rivals like the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tucson.
