China Eyes 2025 as Breakout Year for Autonomous Vehicles Amid $500B Market Forecast

Experts in China predict that the large-scale commercialization of autonomous vehicles is likely to become a reality faster than previously expected. China Daily reported that advanced intelligent driving technologies are expected to revolutionize urban transportation in the future by enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.

Experts foresee 2025 as a pivotal year for the commercialization of intelligent connected vehicles, driven by technological innovation and advancements in artificial intelligence. They emphasized that the commercialization of intelligent connected vehicles represents a major strategic opportunity for the automotive industry.

They also stressed the need to clarify the scope of autonomous vehicle applications and accelerate the development of intelligent transportation infrastructure. To achieve this, efforts must be made to improve relevant regulations, promote the widespread adoption and popularization of autonomous vehicles, and strengthen growth in the intelligent driving sector.

Global consulting firm McKinsey & Company projects that by 2030, revenue from autonomous vehicles and mobility services in China will exceed $500 billion, making it the world’s largest market for autonomous vehicles.

China has already made various achievements in developing autonomous driving technologies, and the government has introduced several policies to promote their commercial use. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China is actively supporting the commercial application of Level 3 and higher autonomous driving systems.
