The price war in the electric vehicle (EV) market is heating up. This time, the Czech brand Skoda, part of the Volkswagen Group, has entered the competition. Priced at just €25,000 (approximately $27,000), the upcoming compact electric SUV Epiq is set to shake up the European EV market ahead of its 2025 launch. This price is significantly lower than the typical €30,000 to €40,000 range that dominates the European market, making it a remarkable value.

But there’s more than just the low price. The Epiq features a 60 kWh battery for over 400 km (approximately 248 miles) of range on a single charge. It also supports 125 kW fast charging, enabling the battery to reach 80% in just 30 minutes. The vehicle combines practicality and forward-thinking design, showcasing Skoda’s commitment to this model’s development.

Modern Solid Design: A Leap in Style and Function

The Epiq introduces Skoda’s new design philosophy, Modern Solid. Its most striking exterior feature is the Tech Deck Face — a clean, closed-off front end integrating radar and cameras. T-shaped LED daytime running lights and matrix LED headlights add to its high-tech and rugged look.

The vehicle is 4,099 mm (approximately 161 inches) long. The Epiq comfortably fits into the compact SUV segment. Its proportions are ideal for both urban and suburban driving, and a bold, European-style silhouette adds to its broad appeal.

The vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capability is a standout innovation, which allows the Epiq’s battery to power external devices. Perfect for camping or outdoor activities, this feature highlights the growing trend of EVs serving as lifestyle tools rather than just transportation.

Epiq Positioned as a Competitive EV

In Europe, the Epiq will sell for approximately 39 million KRW (approximately $27,000). The price is highly competitive with current models like the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV.

The EV market is trending toward compact urban SUVs, and the Epiq perfectly aligns with this demand. Its efficient size, impressive range, fast-charging capabilities, and user-focused features—like smartphone-based controls, wireless charging, and Skoda’s Simply Clever storage solutions—position it as a strong market contender.

Skoda’s Epiq shows that practicality and affordability can drive EV success. With its global launch on the horizon, anticipation is building over whether this compact SUV can set a new benchmark.
