Baojun Xiangjing: First to Feature AI DeepSeek Technology

Baojun, a joint venture between General Motors (GM) and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), has set an industry record by announcing that its flagship sedan, Xiangjing, will be equipped with China’s DeepSeek artificial intelligence system.

This announcement is expected to catalyze the full-scale introduction of DeepSeek AI into the automobile industry. Baojun plans to transplant this technology to vehicles not equipped with DeepSeek through future OTA (Over-The-Air) updates.

In the case of Xiangjing, the focus is on improving the user experience by utilizing artificial intelligence functions. Baojun intended this to enable drivers to experience more convenient and safe driving.

The Xiangjing will be launched in two models: a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and a fully electric vehicle (EV).

The exterior of this vehicle adopts a coupe-like silhouette to minimize air resistance. It features low-resistance wheels and retractable door handles. The rear end emphasizes the soft image.

Performance Specs

The electric model’s motor produces 249 horsepower, giving it a top speed of 170 km/h (106 mph). Further specifications have not yet been released.

The plug-in hybrid model combines a 4-cylinder, 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with an electric motor, producing 141 horsepower.

This model has a smaller 20.5 kWh iron phosphate battery with a driving range of 101 km (63 miles).

The industry’s response to Baojun Xiangjing’s DeepSeek AI installation is positive amid the rapid changes in the Chinese automobile market.

Many experts say that Chinese automobile companies are actively introducing AI technology, and DeepSeek is gaining attention.

However, competitors such as Geely Automobile, Zeekr, Lantu, Dongfeng, and Zhiji have also announced plans to install DeepSeek, which is expected to intensify competition in the future.
