Tesla CEO Elon Musk is set to make an unexpected announcement during the company’s upcoming earnings call.
On Monday, electric vehicle (EV) news outlet Electrek reported that Musk had previously stated in 2021 that he would no longer participate in earnings calls if there was something significant to discuss.
Musk emphasized that Tesla earnings calls are not the right place for product reveals, effectively rescinding the idea of using these financial reports to unveil new company information.
However, for this earnings call, Tesla is breaking new ground. In addition to releasing its first-quarter results, the company will host a webcast to provide real-time updates on the latest developments and conduct a live Q&A session, marking a significant departure from Tesla’s usual approach.
Tesla is currently navigating through troubled waters, with the company recording its first-ever revenue decline in 2024. The downward spiral intensified in 2025 due to boycotts and protests sparked by Musk’s political involvement.
