EX5 Leads Geely-Renault’s Bold EV Debut in Brazil

Geely EX5

China’s Geely Auto and Renault Group announced that they will launch their first joint electric vehicle model, the Geely EX5, in the Brazilian market in July 2025. This will be the first product to be introduced by the two companies in the Brazilian market and is expected to be a signal for their full-scale entry into Latin America.

The two companies aim to build a total of 60 dealerships across Brazil centered around the Geely brand, and initially plan to open 23 Geely-only dealerships in 18 cities.

This entry is in accordance with the Strategic Partnership Expansion Framework Agreement signed in February, under which Geely will hold a minority stake in Renault do Brasil and gain access to local production, sales, and service infrastructure. The two companies are focusing on the production and sales of low-carbon and zero-emission vehicles in Brazil.

Luiz Fernando Pedrucci, Vice President and CEO of Renault Latin America described the launch of the Geely brand in Brazil as a significant milestone for the Renault Group. He also noted that the debut of the EX5 marked a successful start, highlighting it as a global flagship model that embodies technology, innovation, and a spirit of challenge.

The EX5 is an electric SUV targeting the global market, with both left and right hand drive versions, and is equipped with a variety of cutting-edge technologies, including intelligent energy management, safety, space utilization, and user interface.

Alex Nan, Vice President of Geely Automobile, remarked that Brazil is one of the most dynamic automotive markets in Latin America, marked by strong demand for advanced technologies. He also expressed confidence that, through Geely’s partnership with Renault, they would offer Brazilian consumers innovative products and services suited to the region.

Meanwhile, Geely Automobile launched the Geely Global App, a global mobile app dedicated to the EX5, in March. This app is a vehicle management platform for EX5 customers and aims to provide a more intuitive and smart vehicle ownership experience to customers around the world.
