Massive Recall Hits Volvo, Mercedes, Jaguar, and More—Here’s What You Need to Know

On Thursday, South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced a voluntary recall for 117,925 vehicles imported and sold by Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, MAN Truck, Jaguar Land Rover, and Nissan Korea due to manufacturing defects.

Volvo accounts for most recalled vehicles, with 95,573 units across eight models—including the XC6—being recalled starting April 21. The issue involves a potential software error in the Event Data Recorder (EDR) that may prevent the accurate recording of operational data.

In a separate action, 1,560 units across three models from the same brand will undergo corrective measures starting April 11 due to a manufacturing defect in the drive axle battery that poses a fire risk.

Mercedes-Benz will recall 17,285 units across nine models, including the S 580 4MATIC, starting April 11. The recall addresses concerns about the brake hoses’ insufficient durability, which could lead to brake fluid leaks.

MAN Truck’s recall affects 1,515 units across 24 models, including the TGX tractor. These vehicles have an overload issue in the central control unit that could cause an unexpected gear shift from Drive (D) to Neutral (N) while driving. Corrective measures for these vehicles have been underway since April 1.

Jaguar Land Rover will recall 1,401 units across four models, including the New Range Rover P530 LWB, starting April 14. The recall addresses a moisture ingress issue in the rear camera that may impair the proper display of the rearview.

Nissan Korea is recalling 591 Pathfinder SUVs due to a potential issue with the hood latch. Corrosion may cause the latch to stick, which could result in the hood opening unexpectedly while driving. The recall began this month, and vehicle owners can verify their recall status through the Automobile Recall Center’s website or mobile app.
