Minimalist Outside, Maximalist Inside—Meet the L6

Chinese premium car brand Li Auto showcased the L6 at the Auto Shanghai 2025. With a body length of 4,925mm, it matches the BMW X5 in size but remains the smallest in the Li Auto lineup. Priced starting at 249,800 CNY (approximately 34,344 USD), the model aims to attract entry-level buyers.

Li Auto focuses on creating spacious vehicles. Despite being the brand’s first model under 5 meters (16.4 feet), the L6 embodies this principle. Its design follows a traditional SUV silhouette, with an emphasis on volume that gives it a large appearance. The L6 falls into the premium E segment, classifying it as a sizable vehicle.

Design elements reflect a futuristic style. Thin strips of headlamps and rear lights wrap around the front and back, creating a simple yet futuristic aesthetic. Minimal character lines on the body and the play of shadows reduce visual weight, preventing a monotonous design. The body color extends to the lower bumpers and side skirts, leaving a strong impression of a large vehicle.

Opening the door and stepping inside, the interior evokes a spacious living room. This design reflects Li Auto’s vision of automotive interior space. The dashboard, wrapped in luxurious leather with no special decorations, features two large displays for the infotainment system and passenger entertainment. The high quality and functionality of these displays enhance the experience, making them ideal for content consumption.

The vehicle boasts unique and creative driving equipment. Although it lacks a separate instrument panel, a clear heads-up display (HUD) presents various content. A small touch display on the steering wheel hub provides driving data and allows the driver to change driving modes, adding convenience.

One of the most satisfying aspects of the L6, its interior space, surpasses comfort found in other vehicles. The A-pillar sits far from the driver, and the unusually high ceiling and ample knee space in the second row allow an adult male to sit cross-legged comfortably. The seating feels like lounging on a sofa, blending spaciousness with coziness. Soft and plush materials enhance overall satisfaction.

The powertrain features Li Auto’s impressive Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) system, which combines an engine, electric motor, and battery. The engine serves solely to charge the battery.

The L6 features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 152 horsepower, primarily to charge the battery. Two electric motors generate 440 horsepower to propel the large vehicle. This setup allows the L6 to maintain a small 36.8 kWh battery, alleviating range concerns. The vehicle can travel up to 212 km (131 miles) in pure electric mode, with a fuel tank capacity of 60 liters (15.9 gallons).
