Lexus unveiled the 2026 8th-generation ES for the first time at Auto Shanghai 2025. In addition to the existing hybrid model, the new ES will include the brand’s first ES-only pure electric vehicle (BEV) model in the lineup and will be released in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) specifications.
The ES debuted in 1989 with the flagship LS and has established itself as Lexus’ core sedan. This 8th generation model is based on the concept of Experience Elegance and Electrified Sedan, further enhancing quietness and ride comfort while providing an evolved driving experience tailored to customer needs.

The exterior design of the new ES reflects the new Clean Tech x Elegance philosophy inspired by the next-generation BEV concept car, the LF-ZC. The low and wide stance, flowing silhouette, and trunkless rear end are in harmony, realizing a futuristic yet elegant proportion. The front has a sharply sculpted spindle shape that extends from the bonnet to the bumper, emphasizing Lexus’ new identity.
The rear end maintains the ES’s signature sophistication while revealing dynamic proportions, and the new Twin L Signature Lamps and Rear L Signature Light Bar further express the brand identity.

Based on the Clean Tech x Elegance interior design language, a structure that gently wraps around passengers and an open view was implemented. The length and wheelbase were increased by approximately 165 mm (6.5 inches) and 75 mm (3.0 inches), respectively, to enhance the spatiality further, and the seat position was raised to improve the convenience of getting in and out and secure the view.
In particular, the Executive Package, which was first applied in North America, is equipped on the ES 350e luxury model and provides reclining seats, footrests, massage functions, and heated/ventilated rear seats. The door trim features bamboo layering using 3D printing and artificial leather embossing, and the Mark Levinson sound system maximizes the immersion in the interior.
The cockpit, centered on the driver’s seat, is based on the Tazna Concept and equipped with a new Lexus interface system that includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen, and a voice assistant function. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support wireless connections, and dual Bluetooth device connections are also possible.

The powertrain consists of a hybrid (HEV) and a pure electric vehicle (BEV) lineup. The ES 350h has enhanced performance by applying a 2.5-liter 6th-generation hybrid system, and an AWD model is also provided.
There are two types of electric vehicle models: the ES 350e (FWD) and the ES 500e (AWD). The ES 500e has the advanced four-wheel drive system, DIRECT4s, which distributes torque, improving acceleration performance and stationary stability. When equipped with 19-inch wheels, the expected single-charge driving range of the ES 350e is approximately 300 miles (approximately 483 km).
Regarding safety specifications, Lexus Safety System Plus 4.0 (LSS+ 4.0) is installed for the first time in Lexus, enhancing detection performance and hardware. Detailed specifications and prices are scheduled to be released at the end of 2025.
