On Monday, Nexen Tire announced that its N’fera Sport R and N’blue 4Season 2 tires have secured two prestigious accolades at the 2025 Green Good Design Awards.

The Green Good Design Awards—a subset of the renowned Good Design Awards—is jointly organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies. This competition specifically recognizes excellence in environmentally conscious design.

The award-winning N’fera Sport R is a high-performance summer tire that garnered praise for its functionality-driven design. Its innovative step groove technology expands the contact patch as the tread wears, ensuring consistent grip throughout the tire’s lifespan. The tire also features a clever replacement point indicator: a circular mark that gradually disappears as the tread wears down, providing drivers with a clear visual cue for when to replace their tires.

Nexen engineers incorporated a high-carbon black compound and a wide contact area to boost grip. The tire’s internal architecture, featuring dual steel belts and a double-layer polyester construction, enhances high-speed stability and steering responsiveness. This design ensures optimal performance without wheel slip, even in high-torque applications like electric vehicles.

The N’blue 4Season 2, an all-weather tire, also received recognition for its eco-friendly design. This tire boasts improved wear resistance, extending its service life and reducing environmental impact. Its advanced compound offers about 30% better wear performance, increasing longevity and minimizing waste. The tread design features precisely positioned micro-sipes in the center blocks, promoting even wear and maintaining a uniform contact patch.

From a functional standpoint, the N’blue 4Season 2 employs a serrated block edge design on the tread edges, enhancing braking performance on snow-covered roads. The central section utilizes an inclined support structure to minimize block deformation caused by road irregularities, ensuring a stable and comfortable ride.

A Nexen Tire spokesperson stated that these awards underscore the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility through innovative design. The spokesperson added that they are motivated to further elevate their efforts in developing cutting-edge products and pursuing sustainable business practices to elevate brand value.
