Renault has revealed its new electric vehicle, the Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud, designed for an open-air driving experience. Sales began in Europe on March 15.
Developed in collaboration with the French lifestyle brand Plein Sud, this vehicle features an electric canvas roof that measures 92 x 80 cm (36.2 x 31.5 inches). From within the cabin, passengers experience a convertible-like open-air feeling. The roof maintains generous headroom and an open interior while maximizing driving pleasure.
The Renault 4 E-Tech is a compact EV optimized for city driving. It shares about 68% of its components with the Renault 5 E-Tech and the AmpR small platform, enhancing overall efficiency.

The interior features cutting-edge technology, including a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch central touchscreen for intuitive information display. An Arkamys sound system and wireless smartphone charging come standard.
Advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping enhance convenience and safety. Frameless rearview mirrors and ambient lighting create a premium interior ambiance.

The design reinterprets the iconic original Renault 4 from the 1960s with a modern twist. Measuring 4,140 mm (162.9 inches) in length with a 2,620 mm (103.1-inch) wheelbase, it maintains a compact footprint ideal for urban environments while maximizing interior space.
With a WLTP-rated range of 409 km (254 miles) on a single charge. Its front-wheel-drive single motor generates 148 horsepower, making it suitable for urban commutes and longer journeys.
The Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud is priced at €36,700 (approximately $40,000). While it is currently available in Europe, its introduction to the U.S. market remains uncertain. However, with Renault’s ongoing EV expansion, the Renault 4 E-Tech has the potential to reach American shores.
