Since its debut in 1994, the RAV4 has undergone several redesigns, enhancing its performance and features. The fifth-generation model, released in 2018, shifted back to basics with a tougher design. The sixth-generation RAV4 is set to take things to the next level. Here’s a look at what to expect from the new model.

What Makes the RAV4 Stand Out?

The RAV4 has long been praised for its balance of compact car maneuverability, excellent fuel efficiency, and the practicality of an SUV. It offers a spacious cargo room and high visibility. These traits made it Toyota’s first compact crossover SUV and a favorite among North American consumers, where it continues to dominate the market.

The current fifth-generation RAV4 emphasizes ruggedness. It features an electronic four-wheel drive system, a Trail mode for tackling rough terrain, ample cargo space, and a reclining rear seat, making it perfect for dynamic driving and multi-purpose use.

The 6th Generation RAV4: What’s New?

The 6th Generation RAV4 will continue building on the rugged appeal established in the previous models while incorporating design trends emphasizing sophistication and a more futuristic appearance. According to the latest renderings, the most noticeable changes to the exterior will be in the radiator grille and front bumper. The grille will take on a more refined, sophisticated look, while the bumper will maintain the toughness that has become synonymous with the RAV4. The fog lamps will also shrink in size to complement the sleek, modern design.

Interior Upgrades and Technology Enhancements

The 6th Generation RAV4 will feature a 10.5-inch display audio PIUS system, offering connected navigation and other high-tech features. Expect numerous other updates regarding the interior layout and system upgrades, enhancing passengers’ driving experience and comfort. These enhancements will likely result in a higher price tag, with the starting price increasing to approximately 3,237,300 yen (about $20,694), up from the previous model’s base price of around 3 million yen (about $19,177).

Sales Outlook: Can the RAV4 Climb to 3rd Place?

The RAV4 has already made a strong mark in North America, but it’s just shy of surpassing the RAM pickup truck for 3rd Place in annual sales. The 6th generation model, with its sleek redesign and advanced technology, is expected to boost the RAV4’s appeal and could help it close the gap with RAM if success challenges the coveted 3rd spot in the market.
