Genesis is poised to leap significantly beyond its premium brand roots, preparing to unveil its highly anticipated flagship SUV, the GV90, in South Korea in 2026. This marks the brand’s second dedicated electric vehicle and a bold move into the more prominent SUV market. With the increasing interest surrounding the GV90, early concept renderings have surfaced, offering a glimpse into one of the most exciting electric SUVs.

Genesis plans to begin test-driving prototypes in the first half of this year, ramping up for the full-scale launch. As the GV90 gains traction in the automotive world, speculation about its design and features continues to build.

Design Inspiration from the Neolun Concept

The GV90’s design will be rooted in the Genesis philosophy of “Athletic Elegance,” which has become synonymous with the brand. The Neolun concept will serve as the SUV’s foundation, and its exterior is expected to incorporate clean, modern lines and distinctive features.

The GV90 will feature a two-line lamp design that wraps around the front, reminiscent of the Genesis crest grille. Notably, it will not have a traditional grille as an electric vehicle. Instead, the front will showcase lamps that symbolize a grille, reinforcing its electric identity. The lower bumper will feature an aerodynamic air intake with a mesh pattern, emphasizing the vehicle’s sleek and luxurious design.

Futuristic Details and Impressive Proportions

The two-line daytime running lights are designed to extend lengthwise past the fender to the door parting line, emphasizing the futuristic feel. The Neolun concept was applied as a single seamless horizon lamp configuration. Still, the actual mass production process is expected to be designed as a combination of daytime running lights and MLA headlamps like other Genesis models.

On the side, a long chrome garnish runs across two lines, like the front daytime running lights. This garnish emphasizes the body proportions. The GV90’s body size is expected to be similar to that of the G90, at around 5,200mm (205 inches). This design element is expected to show off the presence of a large SUV. The wheels are equipped with star-shaped flat wheels, as seen in the Neolun concept.

Coach Doors, eM Platform, and Advanced Technology
Price and Expectations

While the concept included double-door coach doors, these may not appear in the final production model. Instead, the GV90 is expected to feature auto-flush door handles, with coach doors reserved for higher-end trims. The vehicle will also leverage Hyundai Motor Group’s next-generation electric vehicle platform, the eM, which is highly versatile and can be applied across a wide range of segments, from compact SUVs to large pickups.

Powering the GV90 will be a battery with a capacity of up to 113.2kWh, enabling a driving range of 700-800 km (435-497 miles) on a single charge. The SUV will also incorporate cutting-edge features, including Level 3 autonomous driving technology and a smart glass roof.

The Genesis GV90 is expected to start in the mid-$100,000 range and potentially reach $137,457, making it the first South Korean vehicle to approach that luxury price point. With its blend of innovative technology, bold design, and luxurious features, the GV90 is poised to redefine Genesis as a true flagship in the electric vehicle market.
